It’s the holiday season. This is a time for coming together, for reflecting on the people and moments that bring us joy, and for looking ahead to what the future holds. It is also a season of giving and giving thanks.
This year, your engagement and generosity have been outstanding as we launched Bringing Worlds Together, our $750-million campaign for transformational change. Through your support of this historic undertaking, the largest fundraising initiative ever among Atlantic Canadian universities, you’re helping us be a force for positive change.
Doing the extraordinary, together
To date, we’ve raised $415 million toward our goal, an impressive milestone in such a short time, and that is enabling us to do the extraordinary. For example, we’ve made significant headway in the construction of the Oulton-Stanish Centre — our new ice sports and event venue that will not only strengthen Dalhousie, but also foster a more healthy and vibrant local community. And we have made progress on the Beaty Centre for Marine Biodiversity — an exciting initiative where we will share our research with visitors of all ages and inspire them to think about how they can help protect both the ocean and the planet.
You’ve helped make all this possible, both through the gifts you’ve made and through the many ways you continue to volunteer with Dalhousie. And we’re just getting started.
More momentum, and a more just, sustainable society
Dalhousie is committed to offering more bursaries and scholarships that give every qualified student the support they need to succeed. We’re expanding our experiential learning opportunities to build resilient, inclusive innovation and entrepreneurial mindsets that fuel world-changing breakthroughs. We’re increasing our research efforts and partnerships to find solutions to the problems of our times. We’re investing in our campuses to create more spaces for discovery, innovation, and life-changing ideas. And we’re launching new initiatives that lift the intellectual, cultural, and economic vitality of communities across our region and beyond.
Your involvement is helping to make all this, and more, happen. That means a more just and sustainable society is within our reach — the promise of a better future, fulfilled.
In this season of giving, we say thank you for the greatest gift of all: the momentum to keep turning possibilities into positive, lasting, far-reaching change, right now and in the years to come.
Warm regards,
Sheila Blair-Reid and Jen Laurette
